Excelsior Project Description

Our design team aimed to celebrate both the tradition and contemporary styles of this Kitchener heritage home, blending the two through texture and form. A modern stepping stone walkway, nestled amidst river rock, guides you from the driveway to the backyard oasis. As you step into this transformed space, you’ll discover four distinct patio areas separated by mulch, each thoughtfully designed to cater to various outdoor living activities.

The first is a BBQ cooking area laid in a herringbone pattern, perfect for culinary adventures and gatherings. Next, a spacious slab patio dining area with herringbone inlays that echo the elegance of the cook area. On the other side of the dining space, a comfortable seating patio awaits, also adorned in the same herringbone pattern, creating a sense of continuity and sophistication.

The last space is a dedicated hot tub pad, expertly laid with slab pavers, mirroring the style of the dining area. The backyard’s perimeter has been transformed with the addition of new low-maintenance garden beds, allowing these homeowners to enjoy their outdoor living space worry free.

Furthermore, this project was built with thorough consideration for outdoor drainage. Each permeable patio was built using free draining base materials to direct rainwater back into the earth. It’s not just a backyard; it’s a captivating outdoor experience where form and function converge seamlessly.
